World Cup Saints - Bridge returns home for a holiday

England seized on a mistake form Brazilian defender Lucio to go one up. However they seemed unsure on how to hold a lead and came up with the idea of dropping back to defend outside their box against the World's best strikers. Hmmmm. Needless to say, the equaliser wasn't that long in arriving. In the second half Ronaldinho outfoxed seaman, the England defence, and possibly even himself with a curling freekick direct at goal, when everyone else was expecting the cross. Much to the credit of the English support for not blaming seaman too much. Let's hope he appears as number one at the next friendly and doesn't retire on such a sour note.

There are lots of positives which England can take away from this tournament such as the win against Argentina, the excellent defence. There are also things we should learn from such as how to defend a lead, how to make Heskey less of a lump and how never to let Dyer near an international again. Gerard and Neville will be fit for next season and hopefully we'll see the Bridge/ Cole combination on the left. "I was really disappointed not to get on. I would have loved to have played against Brazil - it would have been a dream," Bridge said. "I was gutted when we used the third substitution because I knew that was my chance gone although I understood why the manager made it.

"It was still good to be there and to watch from the sidelines although of course it was desperately disappointing to lose and to go out when we had done so well and felt we could have gone further"

"For now I just want to chill out, have a holiday and then get my head down and work hard for Southampton."
