The trio were all forced to sit-out last weekends 1-0 defeat at Everton with knee, ankle and a virus infection respectively.

“We are beginning to see a little light at the end of the tunnel with our injuries although we can surely not afford any more for a while," said Saints physio Jim Joyce.

“We have three players likely to come back into the team on Sunday and that’s good news, for a change, on the injury front.”

Wigley will however have to rely once again on youngsters in his forward line for the live television clash at St Marys.

James Beattie (broken toe), Kevin Phillips (calf) and Peter Crouch knee) all still some way off a first team return.
