James Ward-Prowse will not agitate for a move away from Southampton this summer, 90min understands.
Ward-Prowse has enjoyed arguably his best ever Premier League season this year, scoring nine goals and also registering five assists so far.
This has followed a terrific 2020/21 campaign and his form has helped the 27-year-old cement his place in recent England squads, looking in good shape to go to the World Cup later this year.
A host of top Premier League sides admire Ward-Prowse, including Man Utd and rivals Man City, but 90min understands that he is no club's priority target this summer.
In addition, the Saints captain has indicated that he will not be forcing a move away from the south coast this summer.
Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is keen to keep hold of the midfielder, as he revealed prior to his side's trip to Brentford on Saturday.
Listen now to 90min's brand new podcast, Talking Transfers, with Scott Saunders & Graeme Bailey and Toby Cudworth. This week they are discussing the mounting interest in Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni. There's also updates on the contract situations of Sadio Mane, Reece James, Pep Guardiola & Kylian Mbappe, and updates on Marcus Rashford's next moves and Manchester United's interest in Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
"He has another four years on his contract here, he is happy here, he is our captain and he will stay here," he said.
"We have him here as our captain and it is important that we are as a team successful and make steps forward. In this season we have shown in some moments that we can definitely play like a top 10 team, but there is still a few things missing.
"We have a chance in the final three games and this is what we are looking at."
For now, Ward-Prowse will be focussed on securing a top-half finish with Southampton. Saints are currently 15th but they trail 10th-placed Newcastle by just three points with three games left to play against Brentford, Liverpool and Leicester City.
Defeat to the Bees this weekend could spark some relegation fears, with Southampton eight points clear of the drop zone at present. However, it would take a rather incredible series of results to see them plummet into the Championship next season.
