10/4/02: Looking ahead to Charlton

Last updated : 10 April 2002 By Christian Kelly
Charlton have consolidated a nice midtable position at the moment and could well finish higher. Are you happy with the way the season has gone?

I am happy with this season, it hasn't been as good as last year but we did excellent last year to finish where we did. We not in the relegation dog fight so this season has to be a big success again. I would love to get a euro spot but after the last few games, id be happy with a top 10 finish.

General opinion rates Alan Curbishley as being a superb manager. Are Charlton fans in agreement with this ?

Yeah Alan has done great, every time a manager has been sacked, he has been put forward for the job, but he is Charlton all the way. He can only get better in my opinion, and he will build a good team with years to come. He was the man you got us from bankruptcy to where we are now.

Last time out, Scott Parker and Paul Konchesky were ones to watch for Charlton. How has their season gone ?

Scotty Parker never fails to impress me, he has been superb. He has had a great season and played nearly every game. He never lets us down. Paul has also had a good season, he has come in and played in the midfield when we need him, he is also getting better and better every game he plays, I will be looking forward to seeing both next season.

Are there any others we should be looking out for?

Jason Euell has really started to come to form, he is scoring more often and hopefully will do the business again on Saturday. The return of Richard Rufus has been a big boast for us, he looks like a player who has never missed a game, he is back to his best.

How has Chris Powell reacted to having dropped out of the England reckoning a little behind Bridge, Neville, Cole and the press would have you believe Carragher. Considering what a good player he is do you think he has suffered form big club bias ?

I think so, if Chris Powell performs like he does for Charlton for a big club he would be going to the world cup but I cant say to much as Bridge has looked superb for Southampton and England and I would love to see Bridge go if Powell cant.

Recently, your club reported an £8 million loss having strengthened your squad. Considering the current climate concerning revenue streams, are you pleased your club is investing or are you worried that a slump could have serious consequences?

Every penny Alan Curbishey spends is worth it, I cant name a bad signing which he has done for a while. Bring in players like Fish, Costa, Euell and Jensen has made our squad strong and able to cope in the Premiership, I hope next season we would see some big names coming to the club, but Curbishley has brought in some talented players who don't cost much and I can see him doing the same next season.

Prediction:
www.charlton-till-i-die.co.uk : I would hope for a 1-0 to us, but I can see a 1-1 draw, Euell for us and Pahars for you.
www.onthecross.co.uk: I'm afraid I'm going for a Charlton victory. I think it'll be 2-1 to the Addicks.
