1920s

Saints started the decade as founder members of Division 3. Saints finished second and the formation of the regional divisions meant that the following year would be spent in Division 3 (South). Saints finished top and moved into the second division.

After a symmetric first season, Saints narrowly missed out on promotion. Jimmy McIntyre's resignation in December 1924 saw Saints slowly slide down the table despite two cup semi finals in 24/25 and 26/27

Saints players were constantly being sold although the club did buy the Dell in 1926, from the land owner George Thomas, for £25,000.

Manager, Arthur Chadwick, took the team to 4th in 28/29 but the team had yet to really settle.
