Saints made it five wins in a row as they defeated Tranmere 3-0 at St Mary's.
Dan Harding fired home a well taken opener before Rickie Lambert followed up with his 15th and 16th league goals since joining Saints.
The win moved Saints up to 14th in the table, still nine points off the play-off places.
The opening stages of the game were fairly tight as Tranmere came out aiming to squeeze a bit of pressure on Saints.
