Sunday Rumour Mill: Morrison, Rebrov, Hedman, Ravanelli & of course Allback

We've been linked with Clinton Morrison form Crystal Palace. I don't think it's the first time either, not that it means anything. Morrison has been fairly prolific for Palace in the last two or three seasons. But is he better than what we have? If we assume that Beattie and Pahars are first choice, we still have the recently purchased Ormerod and Delgado as well. So I don't think we have room for him in the squad.

That won't stop the hacks though, who have said that we have offered £5 million and that Palace are looking for £8 million.

On the goalkeeping front, with a little media generated uncertainty surrounding Jones and Moss, we are apparently still interested in Hedman form Coventry. Paul Jones can't go on forever, and will have only a couple more seasons left in him probably at the top. As much as Moss impressed against Villa, I'm still not sure about hi,. If he was good enough, we'd have seen a lot more of him before now, surely. The arrival of Hedman could be a good thing, but we'd need to lose any or all of Jones, Moss and Bevan.

The funniest rumour in a while has o go to the Rebrov/ Pahars swap. The press would have us believe that we would swap our most talented attacking player, who has settled in the area and is still to reach his prime, for a troubled aging player, who completely failed to settle and who Spurs are desperate to offload to raise funds.

Rebrov is available for £7 million apparently and Saints made an enquiry but couldn't meet the price, which is where the swap idea came from.

Fortunately Ravanelli has said he's happy at Derby, so hopefully that'll be the last of that link.

Oh, and don't forget that we're still linked with Marcus Allback from Hereenven. Come back next and every week to see exactly the same tenuous link on this one, until Villa sign him.
