Rumour Mill - Koumas

Saints went towards the end of the transfer window with an outside chance of getting into Europe. At the very least we should finish a few places above the twelfth position that we've budgeted for. As a result, Rupert Lowe felt secure in investing in the squad. Stracan brought in David Prutton and Danny Higginbotham. That's it. We don't really need anyone else at the moment. With Svensson, Oakley, Delap, Prutton all fighting for places in the centre of midfield, we certainly don't need any players there.

Yet, the Sunday hacks have said that we'll be bringing in Jason Koumas. So sure are they, that they even say we'll spend a whopping four million pounds to get him, no matter what.

This is complete toss. While Koumas is a good player, we have people in that position and we certainly wouldn't be spending that kind of money to bring anyone in. It's taken Rory Delap a long time to shake off his four million price tag. It's not something we'd want to repeat, especially in today's transfer market.
