Rumour Mill - Huckerby, Davies, Monk & Strachan

Huckerby for Saints!
Due probably to the departure of Delgado, the hacks have whipped up a ready made replacement. When it comes to Strachan's potential buys, all you need is a link to Coventry. So, Darren Huckerby, who looks as though he'll be off on loan from Man City to Nottingham Forest for the rest of the season is our man.

Huckerby has dropped rapidly down the pecking order at Maine road as Kevin Keegan, buys new strikers every five minutes. On his day, Darren looks as though he could be a good player. Unfortunately, if you saw him playing well, it would have been n the first six weeks of joining a club, after which he sinks into obscurity.

I'd much rather keep hold of Kevin Davies to be honest. We wouldn't have to pay a transfer fee and we'd get more out of Davies over the course of a season.

Davies & Monk for Wednesday !!!
Sheffield Wednesday are interested in taking Kevin Davies and Garry Monk at least until the end of the season. With Davies contract about to expire, it could signal a permanent move for him. Davies would be better off staying at the club in the hope of a new deal. With Delgado AWOL, Pahars crocked, and Tessem and Ormerod looking like anything but strikers, he's got every chance of starting a few games. He should hopefully be involved enough to warrant a new deal.

Monk on the other hand, should probably be looking for a new club. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a good player, but he's rapidly becoming the new Neil Moss.

He's an excellent squad player, but as things stand he's simply never going to get a game for the first team. His lack of first team experience is exactly what puts him out of contention for first team experience, if you see what I mean. A few loan spells here and there, is not going to get him ahead of Lundekvam, Williams or Svensson.

In a couple of seasons, he'll be in the same place, an excellent player for the reserves and it will be too late for him after that.

Strachan for Leeds!
This one appeared a week or so ago, but I just couldn't be bothered giving it a space of it's own. You know all about Leeds I'm sure. Chances are you've even bought some of their nice cutlery or a few chairs from their January sale.

Now I've been told, that apart from being a wholesaler, they also play a bit of footy. It would seem they're quite keen on getting our Mr. Strachan to manage them.

Now why Strachan would want to end his tenure at a successful Premiership side, who don't needlessly pile loads of pressure on him, is a bit of a mystery.

Apparently Strachan used to play for them, back in the days when they were good enough to win things. I know, it's a long time ago now, but it would seem that it's a tenuous enough link for the hacks. I'd pay this rumour no mind.
