Gordon Strachan has been impressed with recent trialist Eric Hassili. The Metz target man has returned home but Southampton are hoping that a deal can be done shortly either on a loan or permanent basis. Strachan said: ''We were impressed by him and want to maintain contact. We are speaking to Metz and his agent to see what might be done.''
Brooker for Saints !
Saints have been linked with Bournemouth striker Paul Brooker. The rumour came as a surprise to both clubs. Gordon Strachan said: ''I was at the match and I enjoyed it but I was not looking at any player in particular. I just wanted to see a game and Bournemouth versus Brighton was just down the road.''
Brighton boss Peter Taylor added: ''I don't know anything about that. I certainly have not heard anything from Southampton and don't really expect to.''
