Rumour Mill - Anderton, Isaksson and Davies

With all due respect to the good job Rupert does in coming up with different ways to say, "You're talking rubbish you worthless hack!", he'll never be as funny as Gordon.

On our supposed new 'keeper Isaksson, Gordon didn't just give a no. This one rates in at a "Giant No". Gordon said: "His transfer would be a giant no. I have not even seen him and there has been no bid. Our scouts have seen him but we look at a lot of players."

Settling in to the task of rumour rubbishing, Gordon continued, "You could give me a long list of all the players we have been linked with over the summer and I would say no to 95 per cent of them."

Hopefully one of the 95% is Darren "sick note" Anderton. Yes he had a good season at Spurs but they play a different formation, the price is a ridiculous £6 million (although we could just write off the rest of the Richards' money), He's too old for that money, his wages would break our wage structure, he could never replace Tiss, we have a creative midfielder in Anders and we can't have two, we are linked with a different Spurs player every week and it should be Tim Sherwood again soon, Spurs moved him into the centre as he was a big lump elsewhere.

Take any reason you like from the above, as long as it's enough to convince you not to buy him.

Gordon put to rest the chances of Kevin Davies moving off to Wolves by saying, "Kevin is staying here. No one is going unless they want to go." Oh well, maybe that will settle him enough to help him turn his game around. Something really has to if he is to have any chance of getting a spot in the first team.
