Just when I thought things were quiet on the transfer front this week along come the hacks to give me enough nonsense for another Rumour Mill Update.
Marcus Allback for the Saints !
A rumour from the grave ! Saints have been linked once again with Hereenven hitman Marcus Allback. The strike almost joined us in the summer but Saints were unwilling to meet the asking price for a player who would be out of contract at the end of the season.
Since then Allback has been linked with a number of clubs, most recently Glasgow Rangers.
Saints have an abundance of strikers and I can't see anyone being added until the end of the season. If Allback signs at that point then great.
Jeleon Lescott for the Saints !
Wolves 19 year old defender, who has impressed since holding down a regular place in their side last season. With Wolves looking for promotion I'd be surprised if they'd part with him . As part of the Dave Jones revolution at Molineux, I'd be even more surprised if Lescott wanted to leave.
Marsden for Spurs !
Glenn Hoddle is preparing a £2 million bid for Saints midfield maestro. Marsden's performances this season have been immense so Hoddle can just sod off. Still, makes a change from us being linked with buying all of Tottenham's midfield.
Saints PR man (and chairman incidentally) Rupert Lowe said, "There is no truth in any of those reports. We have
heard nothing from Spurs on either instance and nothing in the Wolves link or the speculation on Allback. We have enough strikers on the books."
In other news, Ex- Saint Jeff Kenna looks set to finally leave Blackburn for a move to Birmingham.
