Saints were once again held at home by Premiership new boys Crystal Palace and the manager blamed the injuries at the club for their failings.

"I would like to see how some of the bigger clubs would cope without so many of their best players," he said after the 2-2 draw at St Marys.

"Any team without half a dozen of its best players would struggle.

"When we got back to 2-2 I felt we should have pressed on and won because there was plenty of time but for some reason we got nervous and did not push on."

"I don't feel under any pressure as regards my job. All I wish is that I had a full squad to choose from and that once in a while we got in front instead of having to come from behind all the time."
