Wigley Pleased With Performance

The Saints boss was once again forced into fielding a makeshift side because of the horrendous injury list at St Mary's and he felt the players on show performed well against a below par Birmingham side.

"We worked very hard. I thought we were the better side in the first half," he said after the game.

"Without a shadow of a doubt we're disappointed with the result as we felt we created some good chances but we didn't take them.

"Our injury problems have been well documented but in all the games we have played since I took over, we have been competitive and not conceded many goals.

"I was very pleased with the performance and attitude of my team and I thought Blackstock did very well again playing as a lone striker."
