The Big Verdict: will Saints stay up?

Do Saints have enough to stay up?

Peattie B -
We do have the squad to stay up and the classic phrase 'we are too good to go down' has cropped up a few times, but this is not the case. It is all about consistency now for the last four games of the season. If we can keep a settled team with good confidence then we will have every chance.

The Bristol City result and more so the performance has shown what we are capable of, City were played off the park and winning margin could have been greater. Pearson must now ensure that we build on this and bring that belief into the Charlton game.

Our problem has been conceding too many and our defensive record is awful, but since Hull two clean sheets out of three is a good return and we have to hope we can carry this on until the end of the season.

Matt: We do - you look at our side on paper and it is clearly one of the best in the division. My only concern is that some of the players do not have the fight in them to actually up there game and help our club avoid the drop.

Even without Rasiak we have a potent strike force. Saganowski has been very disappointing but if he finds his game in the following weeks then he could prove very important. The same goes for Bradley Wright Phillips he has to get scoring as we cannot rely solely on Stern John.

The midfield is strong and once again has enough quality throughout it to keep us up. All over the pitch we have experienced players and they really need to prove their worth now! I believe we will stay up two winable home games if we get six points from them then we should be OK. It is in our hands now. It wasn't last week. Things can change very quickly

Charlton
- I can see us knicking this one. Charlton have not had the best of form at home over recent weeks and the home fans will really be putting pressure on the players as they should be beating us. If we can take advantage of that and keep things tight then I feel we might be very happy come 5 o'clock tomorrow!

Burnley - I actually feel that this game is the most important of them all. Burnley have tailed off in their playoff push so hopefully will have nothing to play for. I say this is key as us fans will be expecting a win and a good performance. If it all goes wrong and we lose then the pressure comes right onto the players with two tough games to go afterwards. I simpy see this game as the decider. If we win then we will stay up. If we lose then don't count on it. I do feel though at St Mary's we will have enough to beat Burnley.

West Brom - I can't see us winning this one. Moved to a Monday night. We are rubbish in midweek games - not only that we are rubbish on TV as well! So past experiences do not bode well for us. West Brom could still be chasing the title by now and could well be promoted if they were to win this game. Can only see a West Brom win I'm afraid. Still I'll be there hoping we can knick it.

Sheffield United - I would like to think that if it came down to winning or drawing this game then we would be able to do it. I remember during the summer thinking what a tough run in we would have if we were to make the play-offs - mad how things have turned out. Just got to hope that with a sell-out at SMS we can get the place rocking and get the team to perform. I can see us winning this one. I will make one point though - Beattie keeps scoring vital goals which help us out - could he be the one to ruin it all?

It seems the boys are in confident mood, but like Pearson himself are refusing to get carried away with the superb Bristol performance. You can hear my own verdict on the run-in on the latest Southampton Fancast.

Let's hope we're all right and we can rebuild next season in the Championship...
