Southampton takeover: New bidders enter race

Last updated : 03 July 2009 By James Joell-Ireland
English based Gillico have expressed interest in purchasing Southampton. What is known about this company remains a mystery, our searches throughout google find Gillico listed as a design agency based in San Francisco, so we can rule that out as the company is based in the UK. Companies house does have a company registered under Gillico UK Ltd though. Perhaps Gillico is a company set-up exclusively for this takeover bid, in order to keep investors names private. It's too early to say and we're sure more information will be revealed in the coming hours.

According to the Daily Echo earlier today, the Pinnacle consortium isn't totally out of the race, despite declaring statements Fialka stated that now the Football League have given guarantee's that Southampton will receive no further point deductions, it was advised the consortium re-establish interest in the deal.

Update 17:11pm: £12.5 million is the reported sum Gillico are prepared to pay for the club, which sits it in third place in terms of monetary value offered for the club out the groups interested. It is also speculated that the director of Gilico is also on the board of directors of Abercrombie Fitch and Wild Ltd.

Update 17:14pm: The director of gillico is Richard Martin Williams who is sole director of Storm Bluetooth Marketing Ltd and Matrix Intergrated Financial Solutions Ltd companies of which both are located in Bradford
