Southampton predicted lineup vs Brentford - Premier League

Southampton travel to Brentford's home ground for a Premier League game on Saturday afternoon.

The Saints have never contested a competitive fixture at the Brentford Community Stadium. The last time they visited Griffin Park, a Southampton team containing Jose Fonte, Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert earned a 3-0 win while the two clubs shared the third tier of English football.

Here's the lineup Ralph Hasenhuttl may deploy to avoid Southampton's first defeat away to Brentford since 1958.

Southampton predicted lineup vs Brentford (4-4-2)

Fraser Forster (GK) - Southampton's most frequently used goalkeeper this term hasn't kept a Premier League clean sheet away from home since March 2021.

Kyle Walker-Peters (RB) - The long-term layoff Tino Livramento is set to endure leaves Walker-Peters as the natural selection at right-back for the foreseeable future.

Jan Bednarek (CB) - With four Premier League goals to his name this season, Bednarek has scored twice as often as Adam Armstrong, a striker Southampton signed for £16m last summer.

Mohammed Salisu (CB) - No player in England's top-flight can top Salisu's tally of ten yellow cards so far this season.

Romain Perraud (LB) - The former Brest defender directly contributed to ten league goals last season (three goals, seven assists). So far this term he has provided just one assist.

Nathan Redmond (RM) - Despite going three months without a Premier League start, no Saints player has more assists than Redmond this season (five).

Oriol Romeu (CM) - With two league goals to his name, the second coming last weekend against Crystal Palace, Romeu is now enjoying the best scoring season of his senior career.

James Ward-Prowse (CM) - As both Manchester clubs hover around Southampton's skipper, Hasenhuttl is expected to continue selecting his captain while he still can.

Mohamed Elyounoussi (LM) - The Norway international may well line up opposite Brentford's Kristoffer Ajer, Elyounoussi's compatriot and former Celtic teammate; the pair have played 77 matches alongside one another but only twice on opposite sides.

Armando Broja (ST) - Despite going 11 Premier League appearances without a goal, Hasenhuttl remains keen on extending Broja's loan from Chelsea.

Che Adams (ST) - The former Birmingham City striker made six goalless appearances against Brentford in the Championship but came off the bench to find the net in this season's reverse fixture.
