Southampton Confirm Extent of Danny Ings Knee Injury

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has confirmed that Danny Ings will be out for four to six with a knee injury.

The England international has started the season in great form, bagging five goals in seven games so far. This comes after he lit up the Premier League last campaign, scoring 22 times and narrowly missing out on the Golden Boot to Jamie Vardy.

Ings went down with a nasty looking knee injury in the closing stages of the Saints' 4-3 win over Aston Villa on Sunday, and after the game, Hasenhuttl admitted that the blow could keep his star man out for some time.

Luckily, the knock does not appear to be as bad as first feared, with the Austrian changing his prognosis during a press briefing on Wednesday.

"At the moment it looks like he is out for 4-6 weeks," Hasenhuttl said ahead of his side's game against Newcastle on Friday. "He'll have a small surgery tomorrow morning. It could be worse, but he'll be out and it's not good news for us."
