Liverpool may well play a few of their squad players to rest their best pros for the league and champions league games. Having said that, even a weakened team will give Saints a run for their money.
Strachan siad: "You have to accept these things but it could have been kinder.
"I thought we played quite well at Liverpool in the league and 3-0 flattered them.
"We are playing well at the moment and I know my players will be keen to put the record straight.
"We have nothing to fear in that on our day we can match anyone.
"In the last two games we have played really well so this is a good opportunity for us."
The game will be played on either Tuesday 5th or Wednesday 6th November.
