Saints Djetou in defensive trialists

Djetou represents exactly the kind of experienced central defender that Burley has been looking for to cover the loss of three senior centre backs through injury, namely Svensson, Lundekvam and Powell.

Although Svensson makes a return to action in the reserves tonight he is still a long way from match fitness and ominously admitted that his knee "will never be 100% again", but still hopes to make a gradual return to action.

Dejtou is a former French international who has played for the likes of Bordeaux, Parma, Fulham and Bolton. He has vital experience of the English game and so will not require the time to adapt that Sarmiento is going through as Saints wait to find out if he has what it takes to play here.

The second trialist is much more of an unknown. Kansikas is a left back who would be brought in as cover to Gareth Bale depending on the outcome of his trial. He is yet to make an international appearance and at present has only played his football in Finland, but has played in the early stages of the Champions League.
