"Jason's not answering his phone which is something he's probably been advised to do by his agent, who we can't get through to either. But we've heard from a source that he's off to Southampton," said Hodgson.
"It's disappointing because we gave Jason an opportunity in life, we put him in the youth team, then reserves and then first team - it was a great chance for him.
"It feels like a very nasty way to go about things."
