Sme more quotes have apeared in the press suggesting that Dean Richards ambitions to play for a big club really meant that he'd like a quick move to Spurs. Quite where the big club thing fits in is beyond me but here's what Deano had to say."I've still got ambitions and I'd still love to play for a big, big club - and Spurs are a big, big club. If it did come up and it was an option, then I wouldn't write it off.
"Glenn's record speaks for itself. Last season, he worked wonders for us. I hold him in high regard and I've got a lot of respect for him. Whether I work with him again or not - who knows?
"At the same time, I'm happy here and I'd have to think about it. Nothing's happened at the moment. As far as I'm concerned, it's speculation. I'm not sure if anything is going to come of it or not."
"We've got to stay in the Premier League first and foremost, and build
on that in years to come. Maybe we can be challenging for Europe every year - but I think that's a couple of years down the line."
Would Richards still be with the club ?
replied: "Who knows? In football these days, players move every week. Maybe I'll be here, maybe I won't be."
So, from this Richards would jump at a move tomorrow. Fair enough. Southampton would get a considerable amount of money for him and he is far from the be all and end all of our team. Of course now every fan will be watching him like a hawk. The first slip up he makes is going to be put down to his wishing to leave and his lack of commitment. Not the brightest really.
In another interview Dean reiterated many of the same points saying: "I've still got ambitions to play for one of the big clubs. That is what drives me on. I want to play for a top-six side and you have to put Spurs in that
bracket. Sometimes, you have to move to give yourself a chance. Supporters should understand that. I want to represent my country"
