Redknapp: No Chance With Depleted Squad

"It was always going to be a difficult match and I don't like making excuses but we had no chance with the decimated squad we had tonight," Redknapp said after the FA Cup exit at St Mary's.

"I cannot play Manchester United with six of my best players missing. I came here tonight hoping we would not get smashed up.

"They made a great start and it was always going to be difficult for us after that. It's very unlikely that I'll pick the same team again this season.

"Ninety times out of a hundred Manchester United would beat us, but tonight's team was a complete miss- match.

"The young left-back played for the youth team in midweek. Now he was forced to play against Manchester United. It was a great experience for him.

"The only thing that concerns me now is survival."
