Puncheon's form could bring Saints cash windfall

The midfielder, who is on-loan from Saints at Blackpool, is expected to start against Premier League champions Manchester United as the Tangerines battle for their top flight survival.

There is plenty of reason for Saints to be supporting Blackpool on Sunday.

A win for Ian Holloway’s men could see a £1m bonus for Nigel Adkins to spend with Puncheon’s move more likely to be made permanent if Blackpool avoid the drop back to the Championship.

Holloway has already admitted he wished he had signed Puncheon permanently rather than on-loan from Saints, though in January Blackpool were put off by a reported £800,000 asking price for a player who had never performed at Premier League level.

However, Puncheon has adapted to top flight football and scored three goals in five starts – against Everton, Chelsea and Bolton last weekend – and is making himself an important part of the Blackpool team.
