Pools officials contacted the Football League on Thursday morning to voice their concerns over the chances of the fixture going ahead after more heavy snowfall this week.
Saints players and supporters were also faced with a 600-mile round trip by road as Southampton airport is shut.
Therefore the match has been postponed with a new date to be arranged in due course.
