Pinnacle abandon Southampton FC takeover talks

Adam Leitch over at The Daily Echo (rag) has just broken the news that Pinnacle consortium has dropped it's interest in Southampton FC. The news will reverberate around the city, as many believed that Pinnacle was the only group of investors that would have the clubs interests at heart.

Pinnacle's decision leaves only one option left as Marc Jackson declared earlier today that he is backing out of the race as well. One remaining group still interested in the purchase of Saints is a Swiss based group. Details of the foreign interest remain tight lipped although we are expected to know more within the next 72 hours.

Le Tissier expressed his disappointment that the deal could not be made whilst also expressing his gratitude for the work of Tony Lynam. Le Tissier quotes;

""With the ongoing issues with the Football League persisting, our backers have simply refused to provide the requisite funds to complete the take-over. "
Le Tissier hopes that a deal can be struck with administrator Mark Fry to keep the future of Southampton football club alive. The plot thickens!
