Fortunately, working hard is something that Brett has had no trouble in doing this season. Although he's only scored once in twenty four games, Brett has between a positive force in the Saints side of late.

Goalscoring has been a problem for Brett and it was getting to the point that he would look for team mates in worse positions, rather than have a go himself. Recently however, he is back to looking hungry for a goal and has been very unfortunate not to be on the scoresheet on several occassions. The goal against Watford was a just reward for all the effort that Brett has put in.

Additionally, Brett is staring to look like a better strike partner for James Beattie. Brett's pace and ability to pull away marlers is allowing Beattie more freedom to score thos vital goals for the Saints.

Brett's not taking anything for granted though. "Even though I scored I'm definitely not guaranteed my place in the final," he said.

"The strength of the squad we've got this year is huge and there are other strikers on the bench and others who might be fit for the final."

"That's the way it is this year, but it keeps pushing the team forward and is part of the reason we've been successful.

"So from my point of view there's everything to play for in the last six league games.

"To be sure of a place in the final you have to perform over the next six games and that's very important to everyone in the team."
