Nilsson set to leave Saints?

Nilsson would effectively be swapping Championship for Champions League (albeit second qualifying round) and will be keen to preserve his place in the Swedish national side with the World Cup around the corner.

"I have not played under Harry Redknapp yet and I feel there is not enormous opportunities for me to play next season at the moment. I can only think that I do not really fit into his plans and, if that is the case, then there is no reason to stay."

The Saints website hints at a possible move and that Brondby may be prepared to match the £500k Saints paid for him a year ago, although it denies any official approach for him “as yet.”

Saints fans may not have seen the best of Nilsson, but they have seen some of the worst. While he showed flashes of skill and some good defensive work, he never quite adapted to the pace of Premiership. If he leaves, fans may remember him more for being subbed at half-time in his first game against Aston Villa and for missing that open goal in the Man City game.
