Howard starts for the England Under-20s

Last night Brian Howard notched up another appearance for the England Under 20s in an advanced attacking position on the left hand side.

While a number of the Under 20 side have broken through into the first team at their clubs, including a few Premiership ones, Howard has yet to come close to appearing for the Saints.

However, he is highly rated, and fans looking for an attacking left sided player to eventually replace Marsden, are keeping their eyes on him.

Howard started the game well, showing good control and movement. He hit a lovely ball from just over half way to Reading's Tyson, who shrugged of his marker to hammer in the opener.

However as the game went on, Howard drifted out of it. Germany equalised and Howard was one of two substitutions at half time. England went on to win with another excellent strike from Tyson.

Skill wise, Howard looks an excellent prospect even on a night when he clearly wasn't at his best. It could still be a while before he's threatening to break through into the Saints team, but you certainly wouldn't rule it out.
