Higginbotham signing completed

Saints are believed to have paid £1.5million for the ex-Manchester United defender, almost double what they bid for the player earlier this month.

Higginbotham signed too late for inclusion in the squad for the game against his old club United on Saturday and along with Gordon Strachan's other transfer deadline day signing, David Prutton, will probably make his Saints Premiership debut in next weeks game with Blackburn.
