Goals from midfield?!

A look at last seasons midfielders makes for worrying reading. If Saints are to become a consistant top ten club, then they can't rely on two strikers to score all of their goals.

The good news is that new signing Mikael Nilsson believes that he is capable of putting the ball in the net. Nilsson said: "For Halmstads in the last few years I have scored five or six goals per season. There are more games in England, so if I get to play a lot, I hope to score more goals than that.

"I like to cross the ball, I like to cross the ball around the players," he added.

Hopefully he can show some of the others how it's done. With Matthew Oakley back, Saints should be far more solid in the centre allowing others to push forward more regularly.

To my mind, Saints best midfield four would be Nilsson, Oakley, Prutton & Fernandes on the left. Sturrock is concerned enough about the left side of midfield to have tried to birng in Beasley from Chicago fire. Fernandes must be looking for a more consistant season if he wants to remain in the side.
