End of season for Oakley ?

Having limped off early against Charlton, Matthew Oakley will have to wait for the results of a scan to determine the damage to his knee. Matthew said: "It is very painful," he said. "I don't know at the moment how bad it is. I have got to have a scan first. It could be ligament damage, it could be cartilage, hopefully it is nothing. It is puffed up at the moment and I am not sure how bad it is.

''We reckon there might be some ligament damage but hopefully nothing too serious. I would hate to think I had played my last game for the year.

''We have three more games coming up and we believe we can push for a place in the top eight or ten and I want to be part of that.

''I am hoping that the pain will ease when the swelling goes down and that I may be back if not this weekend against Everton then certainly the following week.''

Manager Gordon Strachan added: ''It is hard to say how bad the injury is until the swelling goes down. We shall have to wait and see.''
