Saints Ecuadorian hitman will not have to undergo another knee operation after all. Delgado had an operation on his knee before he signed for Southampton and the international spent his first month at the club recuperating. Since the reoccurrence of the injury Agustin has been keen to return to Ecuador to seek specialist help. The clear scan would indicate that Delgado will be staying put for the near future. Jim Joyce said: "The scan did not show anything major and there is no indication he will need a further operation - or to go back to Ecuador."He still has some pain in his knee but it is improving and he is training as he is able. He did full sessions on Friday, Saturday, yesterday and today and he is doing extra work to build up muscle power."

Delgado has appeared only twice since his £3.2 million transfer and will surely be hoping to make a big impact at the club in the run up to the World Cup.
