Charlton post match reaction

Parkinson said: "Southampton set their team out to stop us and in the first half they did a good job on it. In the second half I felt the lads responded magnificently.

"We had two disallowed goals and a penalty appeal where Lloydy got dragged down, so on the balance of the second half we probably deserved all three points. But after going a goal down a point is a good result. We'd love to be sat here with all three but all in all we'll take one.

"The linesman had been brave enough to disallow two goals but wasn't brave enough to give the penalty. He [Harding] was all over him, it was a definite penalty but I don't want to make that the main talking point."

Alan Pardew returned to his former club and didn't get such a great reception.

"The crowd's reaction was understandable given that I wasn't a success when I was here.

On the game he continued "We bossed the first half and I thought we were going to get a second goal when we came out for the second half. Unfortunately, we made a silly error for their goal and we went on the back foot a bit. It wasn't until 10 minutes from the end that we got back in it but we've improved considerably and we just need that win now."
