Southampton's interest in Darren Carter has come to an end after the Preston midfielder agreed to join Millwall. The 26-year-old, who is on the transfer list at Deepdale, had a trial spell with Saints this summer and played in the recent pre-season friendly win over Barnet. But Carter has now agreed a three-month loan switch to The Den and is expected to be in the Millwall squad for their Championship opener at Bristol City on Saturday.
