Burley Hungary for bigger defender

Firstly a few stats on a player who is a relative unknown, albeit a full international. Tamás Vaskó is the giant 6 foot 5 23 year old captain of Hungarian side Újpest FC who had the second meanest defence in their league last season, thanks in no small part to Vaskó.

He has even scored an encouraging 5 goals in his 42 appearances for Újpest FC, a stat the envy of the famously wasteful Claus who has a strike rate of 2 in 413!

Saints have been crying out for more height and muscle in central defence, particularly with Darren Powell out for much of last season. Claus and Chris Baird's showed their quality in central defence, but were at times outmuscled, particularly in the virtual scrap that is the last few minutes of a Championship game.

Vaskó is of course just on trial and is not known to be the quickest, but Burley has shown a very good eye for Eastern European talent plucking the likes of Rasiak, Skacel, Bialkowski and Saganowski out of relative obscurity, in this country at least.

Watch out, Eastleigh, the Hungary defender is likely to eat you alive! (You try making a pun out of Tamás Vaskó...)
