Bridge on World Cup chances

Wayne Bridge is beginning to look forward to a possible World Cup place this summer in South Korea and Japan. After his great performance against Holland and his call up to face Italy his prospects have picked up considerably. Bridge said: ''It's great news. Until you find out you have been selected you take nothing for granted.

''I was pleased with the way it went in Holland but there is plenty of good competition around and I could not be certain that I would get another chance.

''I really enjoyed being part of the international set-up and very proud to have played for England.

''It would be a dream come true if I was selected for the World Cup squad so if I get a chance against Italy I will need to take it.

''I feel I am playing well for Saints at the moment. It's a bonus if I get into the international side.''
