Anders on World Cup Exit

Anders Svensson is understandably upset at exiting the world cup via a golden goal scored by Senegal. Anders had hit the post after a great drag back moments before the African team broke up the park and won the match. Anders told the official site: "I have not got over that moment and I won't get over it, that's for sure. I cannot watch any of the games because all the disappointment comes flooding right back. It was a shattering moment - the worst of my career.

"And it was made even more painful because I had gone so close just a few minutes earlier. If that shot had gone in instead of hitting the post it would have all been so different and we would have been the ones celebrating wildly.

"Even now it still hurts to talk about it. I can't even think about it because it hurts so much. As long as I don't see any football I can try to put it out of my mind." Let's hope Anders is ready to watch some footy at the start of the new season, as there will be a big hole in our midfield otherwise.
