Adkins enthused by Saints spirit

Southampton manager Nigel Adkins praised the determination of his side after they came from behind to beat Notts County 3-1. County took the lead after just nine minutes of Paul Ince's first game in charge since replacing Craig Short through Mike Edwards, and had plenty of chances to build on their advantage. However, the game tipped in the Saints' favour when John Thompson brought down Lee Barnard in the area. The Magpies skipper was sent off, Rickie Lambert netted the penalty, and further goals from Barnard and Adam Lallana completed the comeback. Adkins said: "Every game Southampton play is going to be tough, but we've come away from home and won. "It's great credit to the lads to go 1-0 down and turn it round to win 3-1."
