Meet the Opposition - Luton

What are your home fans like?

There’s great atmosphere at Kenilworth Road. With fans so close to the pitch, it can be very intimidating for opposition players.

What are your expectations for the season ahead?

The most important thing is to stay up. It would be a disaster if, after all the hard work of last season, we were to go straight back down.

Where do you think you'll finish in the League this year?

I’m predicting mid-table. It is a tough league and it will be difficult especially if we don’t get a good start.

Where do you think Saints will finish in the League this year?

Top six finish. I’m going for Crystal Palace or Wolves as the main contenders for the Championship, but we’ll have to wait and see how the season kicks off.

Who are your key players?

I want to say the entire starting eleven who featured in almost every match last season to win the League One trophy in style, but if I have to be more specific I’ll go for the spine of the team: Marlon Beresford, Curtis Davies, Chris Coyne, Kevin Nicholls and Steve Howard. Our biggest strength last season was team work and if we can keep the nucleus of the team fit, we should do well.

Young player to watch out for?

Curtis Davies. A revelation last season and set for bigger things – definitely one to watch out for.

Which Saints players would you most like on your team?

To quote Mike Newell recently: ‘We only buy players better than what we already have.’

(Editor - ouch! To quote Arsene Wenger, 'everyone thinks their wife is the best looking...')

Which team do you most want to beat this season?

Arch-rivals Watford

Any other comments?

Good luck for the rest of the season. See you in December at St Mary’s.

And finally, your score prediction?

It’ll be tough. My head says a draw, but I have to go for a Luton win don’t I? 2-1 to the Hatters!

(Editor - after Luton's shock win over Palace, the Hatters are in confident mood, so it's up to Saints to battle hard and show our quality. I'm going for a 2-0 Saints win.)
