Gordon Strachan dismissed talk of the Saints finishing in a Champions League place after the home win over Portsmouth on Sunday.

Saints 3-0 win over the old enemy at St. Mary's saw them jump to fourth in the Premier League table but Strachan doesn't see Saints staying there.

"In reality that is not going to happen, Strachan told Sky's Premiership Plus after the game. "We have to be very, very lucky.

"Four weeks ago we were having a crisis so we have to be ready for anything that comes along.

"We can't talk about that, that is for other people."
